How to Write an Influencer Campaign Brief

Trendins Co Team · October 18, 2026

A campaign brief is the document that explains to creators what a brand wants to achieve and how. A clear brief saves time, reduces revisions and leads to better content.

1. Background

Briefly describe the brand, the product and why the campaign is happening now.

2. Objective

State one main goal. For example, introducing a new product, promoting an event or creating content for the brand's channels.

3. Audience

Describe who the campaign is for. Location, interests and life stage are often more useful than broad demographics.

4. Key message

Write the one idea the audience should remember. Add any mandatory details, such as dates, prices or locations.

5. Deliverables

List each piece of content: platform, format, length, number of posts and publishing dates.

6. Creative freedom

Explain what creators can adapt and what must stay fixed. Creators know their audience; giving them room usually produces more natural content.

7. Do's and don'ts

Include any claims to avoid, competitor mentions, brand guidelines and disclosure requirements for sponsored content.

8. Approvals and timeline

Explain who reviews the content, how many rounds of feedback are included and the deadline for each step.

9. Usage rights and payment

Specify where and for how long the brand may use the content, and the payment terms.
